BLOOD SUPPLY

The liver is blessed with a dual blood supply, a systemic arterial and a portal supply.

Arterial supply accounts for 25% of blood supply and >90% of oxygenation. Branches include the celiac axis, common hepatic artery, proper hepatic artery, right hepatic artery, left hepatic artery, middle hepatic artery.

Portal venous supply accounts for 75% of blood supply and <10% of oxygenation. Branches include main portal vein, right portal vein, left portal vein.
